Inside the System — From Someone Who Was There

About Kelly Rae Robertson

I spent 14.5 years inside the criminal justice system as a Criminal Court Investigator — working in courtrooms, jails, and pretrial services where real-time decisions shape lives every single day.

I saw what the public rarely sees: how policies are applied (or ignored), how money and grant incentives quietly drive outcomes, and how victims are too often left behind.

I witnessed preventable tragedies — cases where warning signs were clear, but the system failed anyway. I watched internal incentives override common sense and public safety.

That experience is exactly why I now write and speak publicly: to expose what the system doesn’t want you to know.

This isn’t theory. It’s lived experience from someone who was there.

My Background

  • 14.5 years as a Criminal Court Investigator specializing in pretrial release decisions

  • Direct work with defendants, victims, law enforcement, and the courts

  • Firsthand insight into cashless bail, domestic violence risk, repeat offenders, and the real-world impact of failed policies

Today, I break down these issues through published commentary in outlets including Law Enforcement Today, The Washington Times, The Daily Caller, The American Thinker, and The American Spectator. I also speak publicly on these topics and am available for media interviews, podcast appearances, panel discussions, and speaking engagements.
